Origin: Powerful Film With One Minor Flaw

Phenomenal movie. Fantastic acting. Great storytelling that makes you feel and think deeply. Best of the year, so far, hands down. The one “harsh” critique is that the movie, inspired by the New York Times Best-Seller CASTE: THE ORIGINS OF OUR DISCONTENTS, aims to argue the case of castes vs. racism.

American Fiction: Great Message...Maybe Wrong Decade?

Amazing satire with several laugh out loud moments that didn’t feel forced. The plot of Black creatives being pigeonholed by genres does feel more relevant to literature of the late 90s, which makes sense since the movie was adapted from a book released in 2001, though that glass ceiling undoubtedly transcends just literature. Great casting.
