Madame Web: Low Expectations, Low Disappointments

You know what? I’ve seen a lot of takes saying this movie was terrible. To be honest, I didn’t expect much and so I believe I was able to walk away more satisfied than most. Full disclosure: I don’t keep up with the storylines of all the super hero movies so I don’t know where this falls that zeitgeist, which could be why I didn’t mind it.

While Usher was the talk of yesterday’s Super Bowl Halftime, Beyoncé definitely stole the show. Appearing in a Verizon commercial that challenges Beyoncé’s ability to break the internet, Bey wrapped the ad by teasing new music as a final attempt to break Verizon’s network.

COMING HOME is Quintessential Usher

In line with the lead up to tomorrow’s Super Bowl LVIII Halftime performance, Usher's equally anticipated album COMING HOME is finally out. The melodies are captivating. The lyrics are evocative. One of the best things about COMING HOME is that it showcases Usher's evolution as an artist in adapting different sounds while being able to stay true to his signature.

Mean Girls: Why, Again?

I mean...it was Mean Girls. It was also a musical. It was absolutely unnecessary. Obviously, the movie gave Reneé Rapp an opportunity to double down on both of the talents we are coming to know her for but aside from that it could’ve stayed on Broadway.

Origin: Powerful Film With One Minor Flaw

Phenomenal movie. Fantastic acting. Great storytelling that makes you feel and think deeply. Best of the year, so far, hands down. The one “harsh” critique is that the movie, inspired by the New York Times Best-Seller CASTE: THE ORIGINS OF OUR DISCONTENTS, aims to argue the case of castes vs. racism.
